Hey Dan. Is this THE Dan Kimball? If so, I do apologize for jumping ignorantly to some faulty conclusions. In fact I had my pastor read this post after I made it public. I realized that I was probably being judgmental and making some wide assumptions. I do have some concerns with the Emergent Church. However I'd like to better inform myself on what they believe in general, what you believe, and what your DVD "actually" is saying. Please forgive me brother for not trying hard enough to hear and see what you are actually trying to say. So in all fairness, thanks for the much needed correction and response.

However I do feel as if some of your convictions from this DVD (and its promo) are a bit reactionary. And some seem to be a bit overreactionary. I agree with your frustration over the failures of the church. However many of the people who have failed in the "church" are probably not true Christians. And others probably are but are ignorant, are being prideful and sinful about evangelism and relationships with the world, and others are just ignorant and deceived about how to go about holding on to true doctrine without compromise but still meeting the world where they are and loving them sincerely. There is a balance. And that seems to be taken to an extreme among 1) Emergent leaders and 2) Fundamentalists. Emergents tend toward the extreme of embracing culture no matter what while Fundys tend toward the extreme of embracing doctrine and rejecting culture no matter what. So I do see faults and some errors on both sides. Not that I am perfect or the proper common denominator. you know?

Anyway, thanks for responding and I look forward to conversing with you.

Hello....

It might help if you actually read the book or read the study guide for the DVD before you review it. You are commenting about the short promo video which by intent does not try to solve the tensions and comments being raised. The promo video simply raises the questions.

If you watch the actual full DVD and read the study guide that you go through while watching to DVD, you will see that most of what you are saying is addressed. So some of your conclusions here you are referring to aren't valid, as the point of the promo video is to raise the issues, not address them or teach about them.
